The publicans of the Mystic Park Hotel are committed to reducing waste and energy use. It’s an ongoing process, we are certainly heading in the right direction and feeling bloody good about it.
Our growing list of good:
Minimising food waste by feeding scraps to our chickens, who then provide our eggs and chook poop for the edible gardens, whose waste goes to our chickens….repeat.
Establishing extensive vegetable and herb gardens to supply our kitchen.
Buying local produce where possible to reduce food miles and preserving fruit in jars/bottles.
Planting trees on our 12 acre property as part of our revegetation program, to provide shade and reduce ambient heat for visitors.
Installation of solar panels to reduce reliance on the grid.
We are truly enjoying making changes to reduce our environmental footprint on this part of Mallee land.
